The Associate Director of Development for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is a frontline fundraiser and is part of a fundraising team that generates philanthropic support for the College. The Associate Director manages a caseload of current and prospective major-gift level donors and moves them towards giving levels that achieve annual and long-range fundraising goals of the Foundation.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
Engage, solicit and steward a caseload of current and prospective donors. Meet or exceed annual metric goals. Create written strategic action plans for top prospects with intent of deepening relationships that lead to increased comprehensive giving including annual, major and deferred gifts.
Foster strong working relationships with Foundation colleagues, adhering to Prospect Management Guidelines and providing timely and appropriate documentation of interactions and solicitations.
Coordinate with the dean, associate deans, department heads, and members of the faculty and staff to manage donor and prospect activity. Assist in the articulation of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences fundraising plans and goals to central development staff to broadly engage the Foundation’s fundraising staff, in particular the regional and corporate fundraising teams, to ensure activities are aligned. Assemble and engage collaborative teams of staff and volunteers to implement strategic donor plans.
As a member of the CLAS Advancement Team, works collaboratively to advance the College’s programs, communications and fundraising priorities.

Ability to work to the demands of the position, which may exceed a 40 hour work week
Must be willing to travel extensively and reliable personal transportation is required for this position. Must possess a valid driver’s license issued from state in which employee resides. Employee must maintain at their expense, automobile liability insurance coverage in the minimum amount of $500,000 or a combination of umbrella and automobile liability insurance coverage of $500,000. A certificate of automobile insurance evidencing the limit, must be provided to the Foundation at hire and annually thereafter.
Education and Experience Required
Bachelor's degree, advanced degree preferred
Minimum four years’ fundraising experience or equivalent experience in a related field (i.e. outside sales)
Demonstrated ability to personally solicit major gifts in the amount of $50,000 and above or a documented track record of success in a related field.
