The ADOT Facilities Design and Construction Unit is looking for a dynamic thinker and collaborator ready to help us create work environments that will support an ever more mobile and multigenerational work force. As ADOT changes the way it does business; continuous improvement culture, moving toward a greener system of working using digital documents, the use of tablets and laptops over desk top computers with the ability to be mobile, and the streamlining of work processes, the shape of the work space is changing. The Facilities Design and Construction Unit is reshaping the working environment of ADOT to accommodate these new working methods, it is an innovative, peer driven, collaborative group and participation is expected of all members.
In addition to employee work spaces, the Unit manages the design and construction of new ADOT facilities throughout the state. Each of the new buildings is carefully programmed to incorporate new work methods of the customer, energy efficiencies, and adaptability for the future changes. All new ADOT buildings must meet at least LEED Silver and are executed in AutoCad or Revit. Current projects include two new Equipment Shops, a new Lab Building, multiple office space renovations, and master planning ADOT’s real estate portfolio.
The Architect will be responsible for all aspects of a project from conception through construction and closeout. When outside design professionals are retained to complete projects, the Architect will act as the Project Manager coordinating all aspects of the project. The Architect will also have oversight of project funding and assure funds are appropriately spent in a timely manner with full accountability. On occasion, daytrips and overnight travel will be required as well as working outside of normal business hours.
