Specific duties include: unpacks, examines and routes incoming shipments; rejects damaged items; records shortages; corresponds with shipper to rectify damages and shortages; maintains inventory of shipping materials and supplies; reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor; performs all computer functions necessary to track various aspects of goods; verifies and keeps records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment; compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills, invoices, orders, or other records; operates Pallet Jack or uses hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping-and-receiving platform to storage or work area; direct others in preparing outgoing and receiving incoming shipments; and performs other duties as assigned.
NOTE: This position will require extensive standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and lifting to transport and stock supplies and materials. This position must frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum of a high school education or GED and one year related work experience.
Knowledge of operating a computer and experience with Microsoft Excel is required.
Must be able to:
Communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
Follow verbal instructions:
Use simple math;
Handle the physical requirements of the position.
Working knowledge of the procedures and practices of issuing and storing supplies, materials, and equipment.
