The Friedman Lab at Harvard University focuses on the organismic interfaces between developmental, phylogenetic and evolutionary biology. Steady advances in the study of the phylogenetic relationships of organisms have provided the raw materials for critical studies of character evolution in plants, animals, fungi, and all other forms of life. A second focus of the lab is on the history of early evolutionists. We are taking an integrative approach for studying the history of thought leading up to the publication of Darwin's On the Origin of Species. This position will report directly to the Principal Investigator, is located at the Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, and performs the following duties:
- Performs research utilizing specific and proscribed techniques related to the history of science. - Collects project data. - Under direction, processes, organizes and summarizes data, uploads texts and images and creates a timeline using a variety of word processing and/or website platforms. - As a member of a project team, may assist in the design of webpages. - Performs related website maintenance such as organizing and editing webpages. - Performs related job duties as required.

Some college background in science required, preferably with undergraduate coursework in biology. At least 1 year of experience in a lab setting experience required (course work may count toward experience).
B.S. Degree in biology or related science preferred. Understands and follows good laboratory practices including record keeping. Well organized, self-motivated and detail oriented, with excellent interpersonal skills. May be required to lift, move and transport related laboratory equipment.
