University Unions is a self-funded auxiliary enterprise which serves the campus through its three historic unions (Michigan Union, Michigan League, Pierpont Commons), academic meeting and dining facility (Palmer Commons), Center for Campus Involvement (over 1,400 student organizations and hundreds of programs), and works in close partnership with Conferences & Event Services and Michigan Dining to provide student-focused and customer-oriented service to the campus community. Develop and maintain operational excellence in all aspects of guest services and event set up including meeting, conference, banquet and audio-visual equipment. Greet event contact person to ensure that event needs are met. Assist in the Hiring, supervising, and training of student Event Technicians. Serve as Manager-on- Duty during assigned shifts. Ensure that maintenance and custodial concerns are addressed.
THIS IS A TERM LIMITED POSITION - End date June 1, 2018
Building Oversight Responsibilities (50%)
Oversee setup of meeting, conference and banquet furnishings and audio-visual equipment to ensure client
Meet & greet clients and assist with management of their events as needed
Serve as manager on during assigned shifts
Assist with radio coverage for facility related issues
Assist in training of set up staff and media assistants
Coordinate with Facilities Coordinator to determine set up staff and media assistants daily scheduling needs to ensure timely and professional execution of events
Ensure that temporary staff is diligent in regard to attendance, uniforms and maintaining set up standards
Planning & Management (20%)
Inventory, service & maintain banquet furnishings
Make certain that storage rooms are well organized
Coordinate with University Maintenance staff to ensure comfortable room temps for clients
Assist with Conference and Event Service needs in other University Union facilities as needed
High School Diploma
Knowledge of testing & troubleshooting techniques for AV equipment
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Previous experience working in a conference facility.

Extensive Knowledge of multimedia and sound reinforcement equipment. (wireless microphones, data projectors, etc.)

THIS IS A TERM LIMITED POSITION ENDING JUNE 1, 2018
This position is primarily located at the Michigan Union, but may assist in event production in the Michigan League
Must be able to work flexible hours. Including nights and weekends to meet event needs
Ability to routinely move and transport furnishings & equipment up to 50 pounds for event needs
