To provide leadership in the implementation of the company’s efforts; to plan, implement and supervise the onsite corporate safety program and ensure compliance with DOT / CSA. Conduct all safety related functions in compliance Company, Federal and State Regulations. Recruit DOT qualified drivers that complement the company’s hiring standards. Support the company recruiting plan by coordinating driver headcount and support retention to provide quality service to customers.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Conduct training courses offered by the Safety Department.
Lead the Driver’s New Hire On-Boarding/Orientation process
Collect and review the Driver’s new hire paperwork and submit to Recruiting/HR in a timely manner
Ensure Driver’s Payroll/Settlements are accurate for submittal to Payroll/Billing Departments
Generate Driver’s write-up’s and termination notices Georgia Separation Paperwork
When requested, be available for DOL Unemployment Calls to provide termination details or witness statements
Perform all DOT Safety related functions including, but not limited to, accident reviews, annual reviews and remedial driver log training.
Perform DOT drug and Breath Alcohol tests (BAT).
Provide 24 hour on call support to the Safety Department. /Safety Manager/Terminal Managers.
Assists in the documentation and implementation of required or desired changes in the safety program.
Ensures full compliance with DOT & OSHA.
Conducts work area inspections and assists in personal injury investigations.
Reinforces safety awareness in a manner that promotes cooperation and improved morale.
Reviews DQ documentation to insure all required onsite records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures
Screening applicants to fill existing openings.
Respond to applicants via telephone, Internet, mail, and/or face to face.
Effectively communicate the total driver program including compensation, equipment, home time and quality of operation.
Qualify drivers to DOT and company standards.
Participate in job fairs and job events.
Conducting, organizing and facilitation of orientation and reorientation program.
Contribute to build a positive team atmosphere.

QUALCOMM knowledge a plus
High level of proficiency in procedures, policies, methodology, and instruction of new driver orientation class.
Knowledge of Federal Regulations and Company requirements, policies and procedures.
Knowledge of Federal, State traffic laws and requirements for tractor/trailer equipment.
Skill in operating or knowledge of semi-truck and trailer
Associates Degree or equivalent preferred, but not required.
Public speaking and/or adult education experience
Transportation Safety Experience
Five years’ experience in a Safety Specialist position
