Installation, repair and maintenance of electrically powered systems and equipment.
Time: Full time
Installation of new and additional electrical work, remodeling, etc.
Maintenance and repair of motors, relays, magnetic starters, transformers, etc.
Running electrical conduit for installation of new equipment and wiring.
Understand the electrical symbols and interpretation of building and electrical prints. Installation and interconnections of transformers.
Repair, maintain, altering or erecting of any wiring apparatus.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including working in another craft.
Troubleshoot and repair complex electrical distribution systems and related equipment, including generators and switch gears, communication equipment, signaling equipment, drive motors and activating devices and controls.
Follow trade guidelines including recognized procedures and techniques of the electrical trade plus tables, formulas, graphs applicable to the work regulatory codes and requirements.
Three years experience as a journeyman electrician plus completion of a recognized apprenticeship or vocational program or equivalent.
Experience with and knowledge of electrical principles and their application to the maintenance, repair and installation of electric distribution systems, devices and electrical generation systems.
Experience with electrical system testing equipment required.
Understanding of and commitment to the spiritual mission of Point Loma Nazarene University.
Knowledge of fabrication and installation of materials and equipment required by electrical distribution systems, including special application such as high hazard areas, etc.
Knowledge of regulatory codes and requirements such as National Electric Code, California and San Diego City and County Codes, NACUBo and BOCA Codes.
Ability to apply electrical formulas and conversation tables to job requirements.
Skill in interpreting schematic drawings, charts and technical instruction.
Must be able to individually lift a minimum of 50 pounds and be able to, with assistance, move and transport materials and equipment weighing in excess of 200 pounds.
Must be able to work in confined spaces requiring bending or stooping for long periods and be able to work from ladders or elevated platforms.
Must have a service orientation providing exceptional customer service to the entire PLNU community.
A positive approach to work exhibited by a Can-do attitude and being a team player is essential.
Ability to work 8-4:30 Monday-Friday plus overtime and participate in the on-call schedule.
Climbing ladders and working from heights, lifting, loading, and unloading objects up to 50 lbs; reaching overhead, above the shoulders, bending at the waist, kneeling or crouching, and pass a physical exam and drug screen.
