Operates and maintains farm equipment at Coastal Research and Education Center. Provides hand labor for planting and harvesting vegetable crops. Assists with maintenance of buildings, grounds and other infrastructure used for agricultural research. Performs other duties as assigned.
50% - Essential - Research Plots Management: Sets up, maintains and harvests field research plots according to instructions from the farm manager, scientists and technicians safely and accurately.
20% - Essential - Facilities Maintenance: Repairs and maintains equipment and buildings using safe and effective methods
20% - Essential - Farm Vehicle Operation: Operates farm vehicles and equipment used in research field, including trucks, tractors, sprayers, excavator, forklift, bulldozer, road grader, and loader for preparation, planting, fertilizing, maintaining, spraying and harvesting.
10% - Essential - Hand and Power Tools Operation and Grounds Maintenance: Operates hand and power tools, including mower, string trimmer, hedge clipper, chainsaw, blower, shovel, hoe, rake and pitchfork to perform grounds maintenance safely and efficiently.
A bachelor's degree in animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. Work experience in animal care or agricultural research may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
