This position manages Custodial Services Operations and provides leadership to achieve superior customer service for clientele, provide clean, safe and properly maintained facilities in an efficient and cost effective manner. Responsible for the allocation of resources and management of operating budget. Develops and implements short and long range plans for assigned components while supporting the short and long range goals of the Facilities Master Plan. Directs and provides guidance to subordinate staff and custodial activities through policies, procedures, State/Federal regulations, and contracts. Represents the organization to both internal and external constituencies.
Administrative Responsibilities: - Direct the operations of assigned components of the Custodial Services unit through effective planning, staff development and delegation. - Develops and implements short and long range plans for assigned components while supporting the short and long range goals of the Facilities Master Plan. - Collaborates with the Senior Leadership team on construction, renovation, infrastructure projects and maintenance; provides input and recommendations to strategic 5-10 year plan. - Assist in the development and implementation of Facilities service level agreements. - Maintain a standard of excellence for both work processes and outcomes with a strong emphasis on customer service. - Participates and represents the organization to both internal and external constituencies; attend meetings as required and needed. - Plans, administers and controls expenditures (labor, supplies and equipment) - Prepares and/or reviews estimate of job costs, review with costs of completed work. - Analyze staffing levels to ensure campus service agreements are met and staffing levels are benchmarked - Oversee recruitment, hiring and ensure training. - Develops specifications and approves purchases of supplies, equipment and material required by the department. - Research, recommend, develop and implement adopted industry standard Best Practices for Custodial Services and assigned units. - Maintain and update Custodial Services Operations manual. - Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures and guidelines; including service plans outlining tasks and expectation for employees, indicating a detailed daily, weekly, quarterly and annual schedule for cleaning of facilities. - Develop and maintain a safety program. Ensure staff are trained in compliance with university regulations. - Serve as the campus representative to the Kittitas Valley Solid Waste Advisory committee. - Oversee and coordinate refuse and recycling activities campus wide. - Direct the pickup and disposal of surplus property. - Coordinate special moving projects to accommodate office moves. - Ensure classroom standards for furniture and appearance are met. - Monitor the operation of the swimming pool on a regular basis. Ensure water tests for equipment calibration are performed and advise employees of proper procedures for pool maintenance. Maintain pool certification; keeping current with pool regulations and procedures. - Oversee and coordinate custodial services and setup of facilities, for campus events, special events and conferences. Services include but not limited to: housekeeping, meeting room setup; delivery, setup and troubleshooting audio-visual and media equipment, delivery and setup of refreshment breaks as well as any special deliveries. - Responsible for the validation of customer concerns as they pertain to custodial; oversee the inspection, troubleshooting, and initiation of maintenance work orders as needed. - Use various data base software to: run, print, analyze and interpret reports as an aid to determine priorities, lock and unlock deadlines and work assignments. - Use Microsoft office suite to: create correspondences, memos, emails, documents, reports, schedule, spreadsheets, and data base. - Ensure a complete inventory audit is monitored and performed annually of all equipment, linens, etc. - Meet with vendors.

Experience managing or supervising custodial cleaning staff in a large scale hospitality, industrial, or institutional setting. OR
Equivalent combination of education and/or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the essential function of the position.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create letters, documents, and email.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite software, especially Excel.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Bachelor's degree and experience which demonstrates the ability to effectively perform the essential function s of the position.
Experience managing custodial operations in a multi-facility hospitality, industrial or institutional setting.
Knowledge in all aspects of maintenance of large scale swimming pool.
Knowledge in refuse and recycling programs.
Experience setting up for special events, conferences or meeting rooms and coordinating necessary support to meet client needs.
Experience managing operating budget.
Experience using MS Access or similar data base software.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule

Schedule/Appointment: Full-time / non-scheduled work week depending on the needs of the department
Work is performed in an indoor office setting with frequent in-person interactions. It is essential to be able to remain at a desk/computer work station for prolonged periods of time, perform extensive data entry and other computer-related tasks and create/maintain filing systems for departmental records. Some evening or weekend work and/or occasional travel may be required.
This position may work indoors and outdoors, at times in hot/cold/noisy/dirty/wet/confined areas such as mechanical rooms, manholes and excavations, and may need to physically access work areas with the equipment and tools necessary for completion of the job. This often requires standing/crawling/bending/walking/climbing while carrying/pulling/pushing/lifting associated with equipment or tools. Occasional overtime is required and shift work may be required. May need to drive a service vehicle in congested areas.
Required to work weekends, evenings and holidays. This position works indoors as well as outdoors, including work in inclement weather during both daylight and hours of darkness. This position requires extensive walking, lifting, carrying (up to 50 pounds) and/or moving of equipment and furniture, bending, stooping, kneeling and other physical movements as required by the essential functions of this position. This position is considered an essential position and availability will be required to respond to University emergencies.
