Accountable for own practice while providing direct patient care to a diversified patient population. Applies experience and judgment to determine the importance of a situation, set priorities, and use abstract thought to evaluate clinical situations. Initiates/participates in patient education. Supervises both licensed and unlicensed nursing staff to ensure that safe, appropriate nursing care is provided on a shift. Demonstrates leadership skills. Participates in process improvement, project management, maintenance of data bases, scheduling, recruitment and training of department staff and programs. Support and facilitate the Action and RRT Team in the activities of Code Blue, sepsis, stroke, critical care management, ambulance transport and care of patients in HSD and diagnostic areas of the hospital and cancer center. Administrative responsibilities of working in ANSOS, Web Scheduler, People Soft, Microsoft Word and Excel.REQUIRED-At least 2 years of RN experience in an acute care setting.-Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing.-Possession of current California RN license.-Internal candidate: BSN required or in progress.-External Candidate: BSN required.-CPR certification required.-ACLS required.PREFERRED-5+ years of RN experience in an acute care setting.-1+ years of recent RN experience in Cardiology.-Telemetry experience.-Recent supervisory and/or leadership experience.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT-Passing of UCDMC Performance Demonstration, Policy Review and Medication Exam.-Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English language and utilize medical terminology appropriately.-Skills, knowledge, and ability to perform functions of Clinical Nurse II job description at a proficient level.-Ability to set priorities and work independently.-Judgment skills to make independent clinical decisions.-Skills to perform CPR.-Skill to work accurately and quickly under pressure.-Knowledge of medications, indications, dosage ranges, side effects, and potential toxicity.-Ability to safely lift 25 pounds and assist in moving patients, and stand on feet over extended periods.-Knowledge of legal implications for clinical practice. - THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
