The HTC is looking to add a clinical nurse coordinator who will focus primarily on pediatric nurse coordination and is prepared to provide cross coverage support to all members of the medical team including adult nurse coordination as needed. The primary role of the pediatric clinical nurse coordinator will be to provide nursing care for complex bleeding and clotting disorder patients and their families within a clinical setting; Coordinate patient clinics, including scheduling appointments, and implementing treatment care plans; Medication management, monitor laboratory referrals and results, phone triage, and collaborating with community partners; Provide ongoing patient education and guidance regarding safety and medical adherence, assist patients with infusion home training and teaching proper self-infusion techniques; Participate in HTC federally mandated qualitative research and support identified patients through pharmaceutical sponsored clinical trials; Become a member of the comprehensive medical team providing education and care for adult and pediatric patients and their families. The pediatric clinical nurse coordinator will be an advocate for all patients and their families, a resource to the hospital, clinical nursing staff, and laboratory personnel involved in the care of these patients. Must be able to work flexible hours, which may vary, including weekends.REQUIRED-At least 1 year of recent RN experience in a similar setting.-Valid CA RN license-External Candidate: BSN required-Per Diem to Career: BSN required or in progress-Graduation from an accredited school of nursing-Experience providing nurse coordination of care-Experience working in an outpatient clinic providing comprehensive case management and coordination of carePREFERRED-Experience with Pediatric IV infusions.-Experience with Pediatric nurse coordination.-Experience working in a Pediatric outpatient clinic providing comprehensive case management and coordination of care.-Qualified and capable to use computer programs as required for this position (EMR/Epic, Microsoft Office, Word and Excel).-Initiative and ability to work independently and as a part of a team.-Knowledge of legal implications for clinical practice.-Knowledge of performance improvement and research process.-Ability to safely lift 25 pounds and assist in moving patients, and to stand on feet over extended periods of time.SPECIAL REQUIREMENT-Confirmed passing of intravenous certification exams. Experience with IV infusions.-Experience with medication management and monitoring of labs-Experience with a central line including a PICC, Broviac, Port a Cath, and catheters-Knowledge of medications, indications, dosage ranges side effects, and potential toxicity-Makes independent clinical decisions in patient care matters and competent to set priorities and organize work with competing deadlines-Understands the importance of confidentiality and exercises discretion relating to the department and University regarding all patient information and sensitive personnel matters-Excellent verbal and written communication skills to compose clear, concise and grammatically correct correspondence-Meets the Clinical Nurse I and II job performance standards-Skills to perform CPR and teach clinical skills-Valid Driver License, car insurance, and reliable transportation- THIS POSITION MAY BE SUBJECT TO A CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION, DRUG SCREEN, LIVE SCAN FINGERPRINTING, MEDICAL EVALUATION CLEARANCE, AND FUNCTIONAL CAPACITY ASSESSMENT
